When you can't see the big picture
I saw this awhile back on thisisbroken.com. A few months ago the Mt. St. Helens volcano webcam was blocked... by a fly.
This is one great illustration of how sometimes we can't see past the spec in front of our face to stay on mission. We lose effectiveness in our perspective, our judgment and our communication when we lose sight of the big picture.
Recently for me, the 'fly' has been painful transitions and circumstances in my immediate family. Because I was so close to the people involved, I lost sight of the big picture and my fear triggered a chain reaction...
- wrong conclusions
- impulsive conduct
- reactive emotions
This happens corporately, personally and in ministry. In all cases, the closer we are to the 'fly', the harder it is for us to see around it.
So, is there a fly in your ministry environment that's blocking your view? Are you making wrong conclusions because your sight is impaired? Have you lost your intentionality and moved to reactive mode?
Just thinking...

Great post, how true, how true!
