I was broke, but now I'm not...

On vacation, patio side & just finished reading my autographed copy of Joe Sangl's book. I typed an ENTIRE book review by thumbs but my TYPEPAD MOBILE kept giving me errors. Grrr. So, I'm re-typing it...

Joebook

This book did not disappoint and I highly recommend it.

  • You can read this in 1-2 hours. It's easy to digest, practical and doesn't overwhelm.
  • The author has credibility which provides the reader with hope, encouragement and trust. Joe is an 'everyman' and easy to relate to. While the methods Dave Ramsey teaches are INCREDIBLY practical to anyone and everyone; few of us can relate to his personal story of becoming a millionaire and losing it all. Joe has a normal story about normal money.
  • All of the tools throughout this book are available free on JoeSangl.com.
  • Joe lives in Anderson, SC now but talks about the times he and his wife lived in "northern" and "central" Indiana. He never names the towns. Not sure what he's hiding. I want details.
  • The forward by Perry Noble made me laugh and fired me up. Two things that rarely happen around the subject of money management.
    • "Joe is an absolute freak--which is why you shouldn't just read, but devour this book."
    • "What Joe has written about is how the 'average' person on an 'average' salary can live an 'above average' life."
    • "I have listened to him yell at the TV when credit card commercials come on. He is smoking what he's selling."
    • "He's a guy who has been buried in financial regret, came out of it and wants to help others do the same."
  • Joe starts out by saying "I learned a lot about how to earn money, but I didn't learn anything about what to do with the money once I got it." (Sounds familiar.)
  • "Work ethic has never been a problem for me. But, money management? That's another story." (Me too.)
  • "Our money management techniques were weird...I'd have $200 deducted from every paycheck for savings but would move it out of savings every payday to pay bills." (I've done that, too much.)
  • "Our checking and savings account balances hovered at around $4.13." (Been there.)
  • "In 14-short months we became debt-free except for our house." (No way!)
  • "We no longer have stress related to our finances. Now if something breaks, like an appliance or our car, we just have an appliance or a car problem. We don't have a car problem AND a money problem." (Encouraging concept that's not normal. How did normal get so screwed up?)
  • "If I could, I would jump out of this book and tell you..." (Want to know what he would tell you? Get the book. You'll read this book faster than it takes to watch a full episode of Dancing with the Stars.)

If you're fed up and willing to make changes to the way you manage your money, this book will provide the simple truths that allow you to make a plan and be excited about it.

Thanks, Joe.

Great review. I can't tell you how many familes I know need this information. Money management wasn't taught at my house or my wives house when we were growing up.

You can bet my kids will understand money management better than I do.

I know one of the Northern Indiana stops was in New Paris while he attended Nappanee Missionary Church

Looks like a good read. Thank you for the recommendation.

OK OK OK - so the book completely sold out at Amazon in less than 24 hours. They are in stock via my web site via PayPal. They will be back in stock at Amazon in three days or so.

Thanks Kem for helping further this crusade to help others accomplish far more than they ever thought possible with their personal finances!

Kem - thanks for the kind review!!! It is my passion to see others become financially-free so that they can go do EXACTLY what they have been put on earth to do - regardless of the income potential.

One more hint on my Indiana roots ... I lived in the "New" version of Paris.

Seems like it might be a good companion to the Dave Ramsey books. We took the class at GCC last August, and it's changed us.

Regarding the "northern" and "central" Indiana...
Joe attended Purdue. I think he also has family (in-laws) near there.

Thanks for the write up. I had not heard of this book and it sounds like one I could really benefit from. gonna go grab it now!
