The theme for last week's Meyer Family Night was easy. It's October. It's Fall. We had sausage & corn chowder. The plan was to carve pumpkins, but we used up all of our time bobbing for apples. It was a blast. So, we carved the pumpkins the next night instead.
Every week, our family night agenda consists of four things...
- Food. Nuff said.
- Theme. Some of the themes we've had so far include pajama night, backwards night, mismatch night, Fall fun night, crazy hat night, men in the kitchen night, dress-up night and owl prowl night. I get ideas from my mom, Heather Whitaker and Mandy Conforth. Rarely do I come up with an idea on my own. Sometimes, the kids pick a theme.
- Talking point. Our conversations center around one topic for growth. Subjects include commitment, priority, positivity, participation, gratitude, etc. We get great ideas for our topics from our friend, Ron. He lives around the corner.
- Eliminate outside distractions. We lock them all in a soundproof room...landline phones, mobile phones, laptops, remote controls and PETS. For 2 hours a week, we focus on nothing but each other.
I can't wait to have nights like this with my little one. Thanks for the inspiration!
