On the flipside though, if you don't speak up and say anything, you run the risk of others saying it for you. And in the case of Chrisianity and the church -- that leaves room for the unchurched to get the wrong impression of Christians and church in general.
For example, Pat Robertson is a great guy, but he seems to be a streak of getting himself into trouble saying things that really upset people. While people agree with him or not, if he's the the biggest source of what unchurched people are hearing, is that a good reason for others not to say anything at all?
