Yesterday, the smart and generous people at The Leadership Network and Catalyst sponsored The NINES online conference. Over 100 speakers had six minutes to share their best 'game-changing' moments. Here’s mine.
The biggest communication challenge that nobody talks about…
- The clutter we create when we overestimate what we have to say and underestimate how it’s going to affect the other person.
How to overcome it…
- Change internal M.O.
- Focus less on what we have to say and more on who we are saying it to.
- Personalize a message instead of pushing an agenda.
- Prioritize people instead of performance or policy.
Question to ask yourself…
- How can I change my communication style to release the best in others?
If you’ve got six more minutes to spare… Tim Steven’s shares his game changer, too.
i know this was done for the nines but i sure hope there will be more webcam moments coming our way from kem meyer. :)

Kem -
Thanks for this video, I especially appreciate your point about Focusing less on what we have to say and more on who we are saying it to.
Often times I over think the content and under think the personal aspect of communication.

This was very much what I needed to hear right now. Thank you.
And I'm devouring your book this week, too. I really appreciate all that you are sharing with your readers!
Can't wait to snap into action once I finish. Maybe I'd better go do that, now...

Wow, great video! This is in perfect timing with what I am struggling with right now and it helps tremendously!
Thanks!
PS- I might have a "role model" crush on you! My wife jokes and pokes fun at me about it, lol!
